We Had a Great Time, Thanks!
Last Weekend’s Tour de Presteigne was just a perfect chillout, with lots of interesting things to see and try, fabulous curry and wood-oven pizza to eat, silly outfits to laugh at and some almost serious racing to be done.
Team Stretton were slightly handicapped by the late withdrawal of number one rider Nathan I-ride-my-bike-to-work-each-day-and-do-rowing-and-stuff Wrench, whose knee injury (sustained when he hit black ice on the way to work in January) had failed to respond in time to the traditional treatment of beer and sympathy.
Undeterred, we still entered both bikes, significantly fielding the only female riders in the race as Julie (Hotwheels) Mellors and Jane Wrench shared one vehicle, in what turned out to be a suddenly competitive husband and wife race!
Our stand drew attention with lots of people having a go on the famous static bike, and by the end some of us were
a little weary…

What a great day that was! I didn’t even know about electric bikes before the event. It was good to learn all about SCC and what they are doing in their own community for the environment. I’m looking forward to hearing how the duck race goes.
