Conservative Party Signs up to 10:10
What Stretton does today the nation does tomorrow! One month after Stretton Town Council, Conservatives nationally have signed up to 10:10 and pledged that a future Conservative government would make 10% cuts in CO2 emissions by the end of 2010. Shropshire’s Conservative-led Council has so far proved nervous about committing itself in this way and its candidates last May were notably reticent in responding to our requests for their views on climate change. Let’s hope that with the lead now given by David Cameron and our MP Philip Dunne (one of the first to sign up) Shropshire Council will feel able to take a more pro-active line.
We understand Sheffield is offering a programme of free loft and cavity wall insulation to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2020 and 60% by 2050. That’s the stuff!

Well done Town Council - are you leding the way in Shropshire or are there other councils who have signed up? Does anyone know?
